Early Career Scientists Trainings Workshop CDRmare & CDRterra

Monday 11.03.2024 // 13.30 – 18.00 in Acanto

Tuesday 12.03.2024 // 09:00 – 15:00 in Acanto

NOTEYou can only participate in the entire workshop (March 11th & 12th). It is not possible to attend only one of the two days.

Early Career Scientists (ECS) communication workshop for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers: How to master interdisciplinary communication and put yourself in the spotlight (…if you want to :o)

CDRmare and CDRterra are huge interdisciplinary BMBF-funded research programmes, combining researchers from different consortia and various scientific fields. Every early-career scientist may already have experienced how difficult it can be to present their research to colleagues from another CDRmare or CDR terra consortia, not to mention talking to people who have no background knowledge about residual emissions and the urgency of effective climate action.

In this 1.5-day workshop, you will learn what it takes to find common ground with colleagues or stakeholders from other fields, how to communicate effectively with them and how to present your work in a way that people will notice and hopefully remember you.

The workshop consists of two parts: On Monday, March 11 (13:00-18:00), we will learn and practice soft skills required for interdisciplinary communication. On Tuesday (9:00-15:00), we will focus on your individual work and research results and how to communicate them to colleagues, stakeholders, and laypersons.

The workshop concept is being developed together with your ECS representatives to guarantee that it fulfills most of the expectations raised by doctoral and postdoctoral CDRmare/terra researchers in the last few weeks. We are looking forward to seeing you in Hannover and spending two inspiring and insightful days with all of you.

Should you have any further questions about the joint CDRmare & CDRterra ECS workshop, do not hesitate to contact your respective ECS representative, Chris Schelten (cschelten@geomar.de) or Sina Löschke (sinaloeschke@gmail.com) directly.
