The Buddy Day
After the great feedback on the pilot round of the Buddy Program, we are now starting the second round. At the Buddy Day we will answer your questions and you can expect exciting and interactive workshops for mentors and mentees with Dr. Steve Hutchinson.
Attending the Buddy Day does not obligate you to participate in the Buddy Program. All graduate students and postdocs interested in mentoring are welcome to attend the workshops.
Agenda
09:15 - 10:00: Coffee and Introduction to the Buddy Program (lecture hall)
10:15 - 11:15: Introductory session for mentees (video conference room, 8A) / PostdocPlus assembly (lecture hall)
11:30 - 13:00: Introductory session for mentors (video conference room, 8A) / (Doc assembly)
13:00 - 13:30: Lunch together (foyer)
13:30 - 14:30: Speed-dating for matching of mentor-mentee pairs
The Buddy Day is open to all doctoral and postdoctoral researchers interested in mentoring. It is possible to participate exclusively in the respective workshop or in the speed-dating. Participants from the last round highly recommend the workshops!
The Buddy Program
The GEOMAR Buddy Program is designed for postdoctoral scientists who wish to mentor and support doctoral scientists while enhancing their skills and advancing their own careers through this experience. Both sides benefit from it. During the period from October 2023 to March 2024, there shall be at least four one-hour mentoring sessions between mentors and mentees. Further meetings can be held by mutual agreement. Additional support sessions will assist mentors in their role.
