The focus is on speaking: we talk about everyday situations and topics that help you navigate life in Germany more confidently.

More than just a language course
These courses are also a great opportunity to meet other international colleagues, build your network at GEOMAR, and share experiences. Whether you're new to Kiel or have been here for a while, this is a welcoming space to connect across research divisions and backgrounds – all while practicing German together.

When you register, you commit to participating regularly.

Of course, we understand that as scientists, lab work, fieldwork, conferences, and research cruises sometimes have to take priority. If you can’t make it, no problem! Just let Sabine know via email in advance so we can plan accordingly.

If you decide to leave the course – you can do so at any time. Just let us know, so someone else can take your spot.
