The first FUTURO co-design workshop will take place in Saly, Senegal, from Nov. 24-26, 2025.
FUTURO is a comprehensive, transdisciplinary research initiative investigating the West African marine ecosystem. The research program, which will encompass the themes of climate, biodiversity and livelihood, will be collaboratively developed with stakeholders from science, policy, and society. The study area encompasses the waters from Mauritania in the north to Sierra Leone in the south, and extends out to Cabo Verde.
The first co-design workshop will bring together a selected group of stakeholders from science, policy, civil society, and the private sector in West Africa and Europe to jointly shape and develop a shared vision for FUTURO.
FUTURO is an endorsed UN Ocean Decade project under SEAWARD-Africa.
