About the course

The future of work is evolving faster than ever, and these challenging times often make career and future planning less predictable. Opportunities for researchers are expanding across various sectors, with trends showing that more researchers are seeking roles outside academia.

Whether you envision your future inside or outside of academia, what do you need to make informed decisions about your career and future? Are you taking responsibility for those decisions?

This focused and interactive workshop will help to develop your thinking about your future and career: What is good for me, and how can I achieve it?

We will consider:

  • Academic and non-academic careers
  • How to make the best decisions for you
  • Making the best of yourself - what do you have to offer?
  • How do you market yourself in a targeted way
  • Building your networks – who is on your team?

The approach to the event will be interactive, discursive but pragmatic, and above all, supportive, to help participants take ownership of their future.

The workshop will take place at the beautiful Peterhof near Itzehoe.

Please note:

• Travel expenses will be covered by the PACT Postdoc Center. All participants must submit a travel application to PACT in advance. You will receive further information after you have registered for the course.

• We are very sorry that you have to travel to the workshop on a Sunday. Unfortunately, this is necessary for organizational reasons.

• The rooms at the Landsitzhotel Petershof are all double rooms and already reserved. Therefore, you will probably have to share your room with another person of your gender.

• You will be fully catered during your stay.

• The course takes place in cooperation with AWI. So during the course you will have the opportunity to meet postdocs from another Helmholtz Center.

• Please contact us for travel arrangements.
