What is DokMA?

The Dok (‘postDoctoral researchers’ and ‘Doctoral students’ or ‘Doktoranden’) Ma (‘Master students’) is an annual meeting organized by our research unit ‘Marine Evolutionary Ecology’ to keep each other informed about current projects within the group. Beyond promoting the exchange of knowledge, the symposium also serves as a platform to prepare graduate students for oral presentations at scientific conferences.

What we need form you

Please register to the Symposium if you will attend without presenting or submit an abstract until Friday, 04 September 2026.

For those who will submit an abstract, please register until 04 September 2026 and submit the abstract until 02 October 2026.

Do not forget to fill our survey! We are accepting suggestions of ‘curious outsiders’*. Feel free to nominate possible candidates.

We are looking forward to welcome all the members of EV!

Instructions for the abstract

Your abstracts should contain:

  • Title of your talk

  • Authors

  • Stage of the career (Master student, PhD student, Postdoc)

  • Abstract of your topic (~250 words)

  • Visual abstract, an image or photo representing your work

Organization

Every speaker will give a 15-minute talk about his/her/their current research, which will be followed by 5 more minutes of discussion.

The location and further organizational details will still be announced.

*Curious outsiders

To enhance scientific exchange, we invite external scientific sparring partners to take on this role. Coming from outside our department, they bring a fresh perspective, spark lively discussion and ensure every talk receives the critical, constructive discussion it deserves. At the same time, they serve as an impartial jury, nominating the best talks of the symposium.

This year's ‘curious outsiders’ have not been chosen yet and we look forward to your suggestions.
