FYORD Postdoc Writing Retreat 2026

The FYORD Postdoc Retreat 2026 is planned by the GEOMAR Postdoc+ Team.

The main goal of the retreat is to bring together Postdocs from GEOMAR and Kiel University in a distraction-free environment where participants can concentrate on their writing - whether to make substantial progress or to finalize projects such as grant applications or manuscripts - free from the interruptions typically associated with office work.

Systemic writing coach Katja Günther (https://www.faden-verloren.de/) will structure the 3-day retreat with dedicated timeslots for deep focus, guided writing sessions, workshops and proper breaks that will help participants to not only progress in their writing project, but also build a long-term writing routine. Whether working on a manuscript, a project report, or a proposal, the retreat is a chance to tackle those blank pages.

Participants will be supported in overcoming roadblocks to creating clear, compelling and well-structured content through a combination of strategic input, focused writing, and peer and individual feedback sessions. The retreat is designed to be suitable for the development of any scientific text format and is intended to help in achieving of timely publication or a positive application decision.
