GEOMAR Buddy Advanced - Registration for Mentors

 

Mentoring is an incredibly rewarding experience that fosters growth, learning, and mutual development. At PACT, we believe in the power of mentorship to shape the future of science by connecting experienced scientists with aspiring postdocs.

The Buddy Advanced Program is a new mentoring program developed especially for postdocs at GEOMAR. It provides postdocs with the chance to benefit from the valuable experience of seasoned colleagues and receive tailored support for their professional development.

Mentors: experienced scientists (>6 years after PhD), data scientists, science and project managers 

Mentees: postdocs 

Duration: The program spans 6 months, with 4 one-hour meetings (extendable by mutual agreement).

Workshop: As an introduction, we invite you to an online workshop on October 2, 2024 (13:00–14:30) led by one of our highest-rated trainers. Participation in the workshop is optional and does not commit you to becoming a mentor. You can decide afterwards.

Registration: You can register below to participate in the workshop and/or to become a mentor and select the topics where you feel best equipped to provide guidance. 

Matching procedure: You will join a pool of mentors, and we’ll match you with a mentee from a different group or area to avoid conflicts of interest, considering the topics you selected. You'll have a brief meeting to ensure a good fit—if not, PACT will suggest a new match. Once you’ve found your mentee, the mentoring relationship can begin.

Support: PACT also offers additional guidance and support sessions with an external coach, as needed.
