Description
The Research Data Management Organiser (RDMO) is a platform that supports research projects of various scientific fields in the planning, implementation and administration of all research data management tasks. Specifically developed for the field of earth system sciences (ESS), the RDMO Earth-Sensor catalogue supports features relevant for research projects that acquire observation data during field campaigns and at long-term monitoring sites. The RDMO Earth-Sensor catalogue provides a user-friendly and interoperable solution for creating high-quality FAIR DMPs and supports cooperative workflows to share observation-based metadata across institutions. This exchange feature is particularly relevant in the case of research projects involving several project partners. The key functionality is an integrated connectivity to APIs of the Sensor Management System SMS and sensor observations to archives (O2A)-registry in order to harvest entire metadata sets of prepared missions and configurations describing measurement campaigns as well as continuous observations as basis for detailed data management planning. These specifically adjusted features of the RDMO Earth-Sensor catalogue allow users to conveniently deal with metadata including their transfer to project related publications within the catalogue and later also to data repositories and search portals. The presentation gives an overview of the newly developed catalogue features developed within an incubator project of the NFDI basic service DMP4NFDI together with NFDI4Earth and colleagues from the Helmholtz research field ‘Earth and Environment’.
