German language course “Lasst uns Deutsch schnacken”

Do you want to have a nice small talk with the cashier while buying your groceries? Or do you wish to start a hobby for example in a Sportverein (Gymnastics and sports association) but you don`t know how to get in contact?

You are interested to get to know other people from GEOMAR and improve your German language skills? During this course you will learn about German culture and norms, getting a deeper understanding of various behavior in a playful way. There will be games, conversations, networking with colleagues from GEOMAR and sharing of common knowledge. 

Following the overwhelmingly positive feedback during the pilot phase, we’ve expanded the course based on participant suggestions. It will now take place twice a week:

Starting from 15/16 January 2025  🎉

• Wednesdays, 12:00–13:00 – Focusses on Advanced Level (Sign up here)
• Thursdays, 12:00–13:00 – Focusses on Beginner Level (Sign up below)

Registration: Please register or re-register for the course(s) of your choice to assist us in better planning. You are welcome to sign up for one or both courses!

 

What to expect: This conversational course is designed to help you build practical language skills in a friendly and informal setting. It’s a great opportunity to improve your German and connect with colleagues. Please note, however, that this is not a formal certificate course.

 

Participation: Each session is designed as a stand-alone unit, so you can attend whenever your schedule allows. If you know you won’t be able to attend a session (due to field trips, lab work, conferences, etc.), please inform the instructor, Sabine Vogt (frau-vogt@web.de), in advance.

 

Spontaneous drop-ins are always welcome, but registration helps us ensure a smoother experience for everyone.
